ITALIAN WEDDING WEEKEND IN TUSCANY

THE ART OF POSING THAT FEELS CANDID

From a white party with pizza under the olive trees to vows above the Tuscan hills and a homemade tiramisu with cigars.

Every great love story needs a night before. This one begins on a summer evening in Tuscany, the kind where the sun takes its time. The guests wear white. The bride does not. She chooses burgundy, a fluid dress that reveals a little more confidence with every step across the gravel. There is pizza, there is wine, and there is that strange feeling of missing a day before it has even begun.
The next morning is quieter. Bridesmaids in butter yellow, satin catching the light, and a gown hanging against an old stone wall like a promise. Lace to the wrist, off the shoulder, romantic without ever turning sweet. He opts for a sand-colored double-breasted suit and a straw boater, and carries the kind of ease that can't be learned, only owned.

The vows are exchanged above the Tuscan hills, beneath white parasols. Orange blooms glow like small suns, and the veil flatly refuses to stay still. There are tears, of course, on both sides of the aisle. And just when everyone thinks they know how the day will unfold, napkins start flying and half the wedding party is dancing in sync.
Instead of a classic cake, there is tiramisu, layered by the couple themselves with more laughter than precision. Two cigars in the warm glow of the night close the story. Some weddings are perfectly planned. The best ones feel as if someone wrote them for the screen.
